Addresses In UPS System
 
Purpose:  This document provides instructions for extracting government furnished information about shipping destination addresses stored in various United Parcel Services (UPS) databases.  These instructions are furnished for the convenience of State and local government agencies to assist in the transition to new contracts in which UPS did not participate; the DGS did not prepare these instructions and encourages users to consult with their new shippers or UPS if they experience difficulties.
 
UPS WORLDSHIP®
  1. Click on Connection Assistant, then select Create New Map For Export.
  2. Click on Next, then Next again, then Select Data Source - By File.
  3. Click Browse and find the file C:\UPS\UOWS\UPSDB.MDB, select it, then click Open.
  4. Select the correct ODCB driver, then MS Text Driver (CSV or TXT).
  5. At the top (on the right), type in the Datasource Name (whatever you want it to be).
  6. Ignore the ID & Password it asks for and click Next.
  7. Select New Map, then give it a new map name (must be different from the name selected in step 5.
  8. Click Next, then Finish, then OK.
  9. You can specify the columns you wish to export here (like Company Name, etc.)  or you can Add All Columns.
  10. Under Define CSV Filename, select Save In A:, give it a filename, then click Save.
  11. It will go back to the previous screen, then click OK.
  12. Click on Yes to Batch Export.
  13. It generally takes a little bit to compile then info, then a box will pop up, click Save to write to the floppy drive.
Look for file called UPSXPORT.CSV
UPS ONLINE®
 
There are several versions of the UPS Online program.  You will need to determine which of the below versions works for you.
 
From the UPS Main Menu
  1. Put disk in a drive
  2. Choose Import/Export
  3. Choose Export
  4. Choose the "a drive" at the bottom right corner of screen
  5. Choose the Delimited csv file
  6. Select Retain Records on Export
  7. Choose Consignee and click on OK.

This will create the *online.csv * file.  This is a comma delimited file so conversion can be done in the field by using Excel and following the steps in the Receiver Conversion in Excel instructions.  *The file may create a file called default.csv instead, this is fine.*

  1. Minimize (-) UPS Online Office Screen.
  2. Click on MY COMPUTER.
  3. Click on C:\
  4. Click on UPS folder.
  5. Click on OFFICE folder.
  6. Click on IMPEXP folder.
  7. Click on UPSXPORT folder.
     
    The UPSXPORT folder is a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet.   Now follow the RECEIVER CONVERSION IN EXCEL (version 5.0 or greater).
