Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes
Although only manufacturer small business applicants are required to be classified between SIC codes 2000 to 3999; when provided by the applicant and with the exception of construction firms, the OSDS uses SIC codes to help identify the business specialties of all other small business and DVBE applicants. Construction applicants are classified by their contractor's license classification codes that are valid at the time of certification.
A SIC code is one of several criteria that assists users of the state's online Certified Firm and Application Status Search tool to locate your business for a potential business opportunity. SIC codes often do not accurately describe your business specialties. Do your best to choose the one that comes close. Upon certification, you can further enhance your business' description through the keyword feature of our Online Certified Firm Profile.
Construction firms are not required to identify themselves by SIC codes. They are automatically classified by their contractor's license classification codes that are valid at the time of certification.
